Commercial and Domestic Uses
Amorphous Alumina Silica are widely used as ion-exchange beds in domestic and commercial water purification, softening, and other applications. In chemistry, these sieves are used to separate molecules (only molecules of certain sizes and shapes can pass through), as traps for molecules so they can be analyzed. Silicas have the potential of providing precise and specific separation of gases including the removal of H₂O, CO₂ and SO₂ from low-grade natural gas streams. Other separations include noble gases, N₂, O₂,freon and formaldehyde. However, at present, the true potential to improve the handling of such gases in this manner remains unknown.

Petrochemical industry
Moleculoc confines petroleum molecules in small spaces, which causes changes in their structure and reactivity. The Hydrogen (prepared by ion-exchange), part of the Hydrocarbon molecule is then released harmlessly into the atmosphere. The new molecule is now inert and can be safely discharged into a land fill. Moleculoc also serves as a fire suppressant when broadcast over a spill. Because it encapsulates the liquid, it interferes with the fumes required for ignition. Moleculoc can be reused up to seven times before being discarded to the landfill making it price efficient and an environmentally sound product.

Animal welfare
In concentrated animal growing facilities, Animal Hospitals, Vet Clinics, Barns, and other areas contaminated with animal feces and body fluids, the addition of Moleculoc is a cost effective way to mitigate contamination and spills. Moleculoc, being such a porous material, floats. When broad cast over a body of water or on a beach it absorbs the Hydrocarbon and not water, thus electronically encapsulating the pollutant. Over 25,000,000 styrofoam cups go into landfills every year. Styrofoam makes up 25% of our landfill space and is not recyclable, so any cup you use today will still be around 500 years from now. Incinerating styrofoam is not an acceptable alternative to burying the impervious material, as it gives off over 90 different hazardous chemicals, including styrene vapors and dioxin.

“Our most unique product is one created from Bagasse, a waste material is recycled, made into useful tableware, then composted into nutrient rich soil,” says Coughlin. Bagasse, one of the most popular offerings, is a byproduct of sugar cane which is made from the dry fibrous residue left after the stalks have been crushed to extract juice. Bagasse plates and bowls are created by a high-heat, high-pressure process that requires the use of considerably less energy than that used when pulping wood for similar paper products. These pieces are remarkably durable and especially well suited for holding hot, wet or oily foods.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, paper and paper board products, which include paper plates and food packaging, constitute the largest portion of municipal solid waste. The average individual discards about four pounds of waste material each day. Although recycling materials helps to alleviate this burden on our environment, the most preferred method of waste management is to reduce the generation of waste at the source through waste prevention. Waste prevention includes seeking products and packaging that are free of toxics and redesigning products to use fewer raw materials in production.
